About Museo Romanticismo

The National Museum of Romanticism focuses on life during the Romantic Age, displaying art and cultural objects from the period. The beginnings of the collection date back to 1921, when founder Benigno de la Vega-Inclán recognized the importance of preserving Spanish artifacts from this time and donated many of his own pieces to the state. The building itself is a 16th century mansion and has only been altered for restorative and functional purposes. Scattered through out throughout this mansion-museum are paintings, miniatures, furniture, photographs, and other creative works that reveal the breadth of artistic production during this era.
