Lincoln

Steven Spielberg does not disappoint with his latest masterpiece, “Lincoln”, which will be released in Spain tomorrow, Fri, 18 Jan. The movie follows the story of Abraham Lincoln (Daniel Day-Lewis), the United States 16th President, and his mighty struggle to pass the 13th amendment to abolish slavery.

Silver Linings Playbook (El lado bueno de las cosas)

Not many romantic comedies begin in a mental hospital, but then Silver Linings Playbook isn’t a typical romantic comedy. Nominated for eight Oscars, David O Russell‘s (The Fighter) latest offering stars Bradley Cooper (The Hangover and The A Team) as Pat, a manic former teacher who is obsessed with getting back with his estranged wife.

The Flight (El vuelo)

Whip Whitaker is flying high while piloting SouthJet flight 227 on its journey from Florida to Georgia because instead of coffee and toast for breakfast, Whitaker had beer and cocaine.

Beasts of the Southern Wild (Bestias del sur salvaje)

What would you do if melting polar ice caps and rising sea levels threatened the only home you had ever known? Would you flee to the safety of higher ground? Or would you stay put, keep calm and drink beer? For six-year-old Hushpuppy and her father Wink it’s a no-brainer… someone pass the bottle-opener.

Spring Breakers

It’s a mass of drunken Americans raging hard on the beach—queue shots of teeny girls in bright bikinis. Under a rain of Natty Light, the crowd’s hips thrust to the techno beats of Shrillex. Guys crudely grab their crotches, girls suggestively suck on popsicles, and all middle fingers are stuck at full mast. There’s not an inch of sand that isn’t packed with topless bodies and beer bongs.

Great Expectations (Grandes esperanzas)

Marsh country, Kent. An oppressive grey sky casts a dullness over the watery cattle-filled landscape. A young boy, aged 11 or so, runs along the riverside path and into a cemetery, coming to rest at his parents’ grave. A dirty, long-haired, bearded man shackled with jangling chains creeps up on the youngster and threatens to kill him if he doesn’t do as he’s told.

Robot & Frank… and Jake

Jake Schreier looks out of the window of the InterContinental Hotel in downtown Madrid, disappointed by the constant springtime drizzle. He shifts in his seat to get comfortable, and disregarding the depressing weather, he eagerly begins to answer questions about his first full-length film, Robot & Frank (Un amigo para Frank).
